GOP Nashville Thanks Department of Homeland Security for Recent Operation

NASHVILLE, TN — May 18, 2025 -- In the wake of the recent ICE operation that resulted in 196 arrests in the Nashville area, GOP Nashville, the Davidson County Republican party, is expressing deep appreciation to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for its efforts to uphold the rule of law and protect our communities.

GOP Nashville Chairman Jason Weakley commented, "We especially want to thank Jeff Long, the Commissioner of the Department of Safety and Homeland Security here in Nashville, and Kristi Noem, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, for their leadership and commitment to public safety. Their teams’ work in executing this operation underscores the importance of federal agencies stepping in when local leadership fails to act."

“The people of Nashville appreciate the federal agents who are doing the work our mayor and city council refuse to do,” Weakley continued. “We are grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and courage shown by DHS officers in enforcing immigration law and removing individuals who pose a threat to our neighborhoods. Please keep it up!”

At a time when public trust in local leadership is strained, the people of Nashville are encouraged to see that federal authorities are taking action to ensure the safety of our city. We stand behind the agents and officials who prioritize law, order, and the well-being of our communities.
